Cultural diversity, human rights, peace, and sustainable development have been the primary concerns of UNESCO. In line with these goals, KNCU has continuously endeavored to provide an educational environment that promotes global education. In addition, as society changes rapidly and the world grows smaller, English has become a fundamental element of global education to enhance worldwide communication.
In order to meet the changing needs of society and the goals of UNESCO, KNCU intends to redouble its efforts to improve the level of cultural understanding,

In today's globalizing world, learning English means more than simply learning the language itself. It entails learning a mix of cultures and acquiring the tools for intercultural understanding. This is where the role of educators comes into view, particularly English teachers who are uniquely equipped for learning and teaching intercultural understanding.
It is with this recognition that the Korean National Commission for UNESCO initiated the Korea-Australia English Teachers' Camp for Global Understanding in 2003. Following the success of seven previous annual camps, the eighth camp will be organized in January 2012. Ninety Korean and 15 Australian educators will be brought together to discuss various ways to improve the English language curriculum by using the values and themes that have been emphasized by UNESCO such as intercultural understanding, multiculturalism, and tolerance
