History

유네스코한국위원회가 독자 여러분과 함께 생각해 보고 싶은 이야기를 소개합니다.

  • The Republic of Korea joined UNESCO on June 14, 1950, becoming the Organization’s 55th member state. The Korean government made preparations to establish a national commission even as the Korean War raged, finally establishing the KNCU in 1954. The KNCU works in cooperation with the government, and UNESCO-related organizations, both at home and abroad, to promote the ideals of UNESCO in the Republic of Korea and further afield, and to encourage the participation of the public in UNESCO activities.
