유네스코 페스티발 2001 - 세계와의 대화 - 2001년은 유엔이 정한 ‘문명간 대화의 해’입니다. 과거 갈등과 대립의 역사를 반성하고, 문명간의 대화를 통해 공존과 화합의 새 천년을 열고자 하는 전 인류의 염원이 담긴 선언으로 볼 수 있습니다. 미국 테러 사태로 인해 전 세계에 전운이 감돌고 있는 작금의 현실에서, 유엔의 ‘2001년, 문명간 대화의 원년’으로써의 선언은 그 의미가 남다르다고 생각됩니다. 지난 1998년부터 교육인적자원부와 공동으로 ‘외국인과 함께 하는 문화교실’ 프로그램을 통해 우리나라 청소년들에게 세계의 다양한 문화를 소개하는데 주도적 역할을 한 유네스코한국위원회는 상기 선언의 실천을 위한 노력의 일환으로 서울시 청소년문화교류센터(MIZY)와 함께 ‘2001년도 유네스코 축제’를 기획하였습니다. ‘세계와의 대화’라는 주제아래 청소년과 주한외국인 그리고 일반시민이 프로그램 참여를 통해 상호 문화를 경험하고 배울 수 있도록 준비된 이번 축제는, 특히 관객이 자발적으로 축제 진행의 주체가 될 수 있도록 기획되었다는 점에서 이채롭습니다. 각종 전시, 워크숍, 포럼 등이 10월 11일과 12일 양일에 걸쳐 명동유네스코회관 내에서 실시되며, 토요일인 13일에는 이번 축제의 주행사로서 지구를 상징하는 지름 5미터의 대규모 원형 구조물이 ‘세계로 떠나는 자전거 여행’ 이라는 이름으로 명동 거리에 세워지게 될 예정입니다. 설치미술가 김영현씨가 제작감독을 맡게 될 이번 주행사는 관객 모두가 함께 제작과정에 참여할 수 있도록 준비되었습니다. 아울러 컬러믹스를 이용하여 관객이 직접 제작하게 될 대형 세계지도 만들기, 내.외국인들이 꾸미게 될 야외공연, 각국의 자원봉사자가 운영하는 세계음식문화체험, 세계의복문화 체험, 세계놀이문화체험, 세계풍물체험, 문화교류를 주제로 한 각종 기획전시 등 다채로운 행사가 펼쳐질 예정입니다. 행사명 : 유네스코축제 2001 행사주최 : 유네스코한국위원회 행사주관 : 한국유네스코문화교류센터 (KUCES) / 서울청소년문화교류센터 (MIZY) 행사후원 : 교육인적자원부 / 서울특별시 행사기간 : 2001년 10월 11일 - 13일 행사장소 : 명동거리, 명동유네스코회관 행사관련문의 : Tel 02 755 4623 / Fax 02 755 4629 Website http://festival.unesco.or.kr E-mail ccap@unesco.or.kr UNESCO Festival 2001 - Dialogue with the World - The year 2001 has been proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly as the United Nations Year of Dialogue among Civilizations. One of the goals of the dialogue among civilizations is to spread knowledge and appreciation of the historical and cultural background of peoples living in different circumstances and areas of the world. To further this aim, Korea Unesco Cultural Exchange Services in cooperation with the Myongdong Info Zone of Youth are pleased to host the UNESCO Festival 2001 between 11th and 13th October at Myongdong, central Seoul. Based on the theme ‘Dialogue with the World’, the festival is designed to bring people closer to the world’s diverse cultures through various exhibitions, performances, and art workshops as well as to promote world peace. ‘Bicycle Trip around the World’, the main event on Myongdong’s street will showcase a bicycle on top of a 5 mitre globe c*reated by a well-known artist Mr. Kim Young-hyun symbolising a one-day round-the-world trip. Other highlights in the Festival include musical performances done by school students and foreign volunteers, various exhibitions on world cultures, hands on workshops, artwork competitions, just to name a few. Used as a vehicle for promoting mutual understanding between Korean youth and those foreigners residing in Korea, this yearly festival will serve as a precious opportunity for those participants to learn more about various cultures existing in this world.
